Collection of fashion designs based on flags of countries.  This set was begun in 2000 and is actually not yet finished.  Please inquire about avaialbilty if interested.  A lot of these are pretty cool designs and would work well in other colors or monochrome.

O064:  "Barbie Austria," Countries Series #1, 2006.

In 2001, as high school was ending I began a set of fashion designs based on the flags of all the countries. Trying not to be partial I started with the first ones in the atlas. Of course the world atlas is Eurocentric, but I didn't care, I just wanted a checklist, and to get started.
The designs are rather interesting, because there is a challenge of creating an outfit that shows all the necessary design requirements of the flag, but that is interesting and also there is the requirement that the color and the shape are irrelevant to each other. That also goes for texture.
The first country was Austria, and five years later, I turned it into a doll. Her outfit is completely hand sewn out of red and white satin, including her very difficult to sew bi-color gloves. She wears fishnet stockings and red boots with black soles that are Mattel manufactured, and I believe go to My Scene barbie. The top of the dress is adorned with red sequins.
The doll was originally a Sit in Style Barbie. I cut and restyled her hair to be like my fashion design, and I gave her a complete facial erasure and repaint, complete with varnish and rooted lashes. I boil-molded her arms so that I could put her in the same pose as my design.
This was still a beginner phase doll and has some flaws.  I had her for sale but later had to pawn her.
I have not yet completed the drawings, having only made 44 or so.  Also a doll for Denmark is complete, but not yet ready to be for sale.
