Character in the movie Down with Love.
This doll has a 1989 Jazzie head on a 1995 Sea Pearl Mermaid body (1966
body with 1991 Shani arms). Her arms have been boil-molded into shape to be able to hold the Barbara Novak handbag and "Down
With Love" book.
The doll has had all of her original face paint removed, and original hair. Complete repaint with
Liquitex acrylic paint, varnished with polymer varnish. Hand-rooted dark lashes and Ash Blond hair from Restoredoll.com. Her
hair has been curled, gelled, and boiled.
She wears factory Mattel pumps that have been painted and varnished, however
the varnish drying has caused a small split in one of her shoes.
Her outfit is entirely handmade, the white cross-sripes
hand-sewn on. Her handbag is handsewn and hotglued together out of white vinyl for the kitchen to line silverware drawers
and shelves with, and is very thick. Handmade hat, handpieced book in scale, gloves, jacket, 2 tone dress.
Shown here is one of Two nearly identical Barbara Novaks that I made. This is
the one that I offered for sale, and later had to pawn. The other I made for myself and is part of my personal collection.
Mine has nostalgic reproduction heels that have been similarly painted.
